This afternoon Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Hustead, and the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) announced more that $88 million dollars in funding to help nearly a dozen Appalachian school districts improve public health, education, wellness and enhance workforce development in their areas.
Caldwell Exempted Village School District is excited to announce that it has been awarded $8.3 million dollars in grant funding through the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) to build a 16,183 square foot wellness, education and career development center on the campus of Caldwell Elementary School in partnership and collaboration with Genesis Healthcare Systems and Ohio Hills Health Centers. These funds have been awarded to the district through the Appalachian Community Innovation Centers Program and in partnership with the Ohio General Assembly.
The facility will provide Primary Care Plus space necessary to provide a wide array of healthcare services including treatment areas, telehealth treatment space, a dental operatory, laboratory space, and specialty treatment areas for mammography, x-ray, mobile CT space, and classroom space to accomodate 30 students for the medical pathways programs operated by Caldwell Schools. In addition, the space will serve as a community business incubator and accelerator promoting the growth and success of area businesses and area residents.
The wellness center will include 6 exam rooms, 4 telehealth treatment rooms, 4 dental operatories with exam rooms, laboratory space, 4 classrooms with 4 meeting rooms to accommodate medical pathways for students and faculty at Caldwell High School along with workforce development through local agencies.
This partnership with Genesis Healthcare Systems and Ohio Hills Health Centers will provide medical care opportunities for the entire population of Noble County. This partnership makes historic investments to our underserved Noble County residents by creating greater educational opportunities, increasing workforce participation, and improving health outcomes through physical and behavioral health services.
We are grateful to provide this space for the betterment of all Noble County residents and the alliance with Genesis Healthcare Systems and Ohio Hills Health Centers to see this project through.
