Hiring: Peer Recovery Supporter Coach

BACKGROUND

Future Plans, Inc. 501 (c)3 (FP) is committed to the economic recovery of all of Ohio’s communities. The Attorney General Project, known as the Peer Recovery Supporter Initiative, part of FP, is focused on helping adults in Appalachia discover their best self and growing the economic prosperity of the region. We believe the catalyst for leading a fulfilling life lies in discovering our purpose and direction through learning what we have to offer to the world and finding how we best fit into the world.

The primary purpose of the PRS Initiative is to strengthen the recovery ecosystem in Appalachia for those in recovery who are also navigating the legal/justice system. The goal of the project is to create a smoother pathway between recovery/incarceration back into the workforce community, by providing transitional workforce support to both participants and employers. We believe this can be met by developing a network of trained Peer Recovery Support Specialists in Appalachia who serve with additional training in the workforce.

To help us live our mission and help build our communities, we are looking for individuals with a desire to positively impact the lives of students and job seekers of all ages and stages of their lives.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Peer Recovery Supporter Coach is to assist a team of Peer Recovery Supporter Interns working with the adult population at different agencies in Appalachia (overseeing pilot projects, partner agency referrals, etc.). The Peer Recovery Supporter Coach will help the interns grow their skill set through a process of utilizing Future Plans assessment and local partner resources, to improve the overall career path and financial sufficiency of clients. Building a pipeline of skilled Peer Recovery Supporters who are cross trained in workforce development, specifically in the tools proven by Future Plans to make a difference in helping clients find the appropriate career pathway and to access the resources for training and employment required for them to achieve their goals.   

DUTIES

  • Collaborate with interns and supervisors to identify local partners to implement Future Plans career assessment to help the adult population grow everyone’s career path towards an in-demand job or higher financial rewards (self-sufficiency).
  • Coordinate and complete career coaching with interns who are client facing who help clients complete the assessment to create an individual career plan and create referrals as needed for the client.
  • Maintain data in the Future Plans dashboard and/or other client data monitoring platforms to monitor career readiness status of all clients (as assigned).
  • Coordinate the transition of follow up information of associated client’s information.
  • Assist partnering agencies on the use of Future Plans data for clients when developing an educational plan and/or career plan to help the client balance their overall wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with interns and supervisors on all projects.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to the interns. The interns will need support, coaching and resources for their professional growth provided by the Coach.
  • Serve as program representative on assigned community committees such as drug coalition, recovery, and court initiatives.
  • Identify local success stories for the purpose of developing video testimonials and local press coverage.
  • Be knowledgeable and maintain relationships with local community colleges and workforce training programs such as apprenticeships for client referrals.
  • Maintain positive community relationships as a representative of Future Plans.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Attorney General Project Manager and Director of Adult Initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of people and formal organizations.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and consensus through effective collaboration.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to think in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Must have a reliable automobile, valid driver’s license and minimum state required liability auto insurance.
  • Complete Ohio’s Criminal Background Check

Job Type

  • Full-time
  • Schedule, Monday – Friday, including summer months.
  • Some weekend and/or evening availability.
  • Position requires travel as needed and as approved by Program Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preference given to those with experience working professionally as a Case Manager, Career Coordinator and/or Peer Recovery Supporter.
  • Preference given to those with extensive experience and knowledge of working in the community with the local population. This experience could be as a community volunteer, school volunteer, civic leader, or other community involvement.
  • Must have experience working one on one with individuals.Must be willing to complete required training for position within the first 90 days of hire.
  • Must be willing to complete required training for position within the first 90 days of hire.
  • Must be proficient in using technology such as Microsoft office or Google docs.

These qualifications are guidelines. Other combinations of education and experience which could provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered for potential to hire.

LOCATION

This position is a field position and offers the opportunity to work from home as well as from partner locations.
