Hiring: Remote Work Center Manager

BACKGROUND

The FUTUREPLANS project is focused on helping youth and adults in Appalachia discover their best selves and growing the economic prosperity of the region. We believe the catalyst for leading a fulfilling life lies in discovering one’s purpose and direction, through learning what we have to offer and finding how best we fit into the world. The Remote Workforce Development project is under FUTUREPLANS.

The goal of the Remote Workforce Development project is to support individuals by helping them obtain the skills and knowledge needed to participate in the global economy through remote work. This project focuses on delivering remote work training, foundational skill building, and specific credentialing to further impact the career goals of the region.

To help us achieve our mission and build our communities, we are looking for individuals with a desire to positively impact the lives of job seekers of all ages and stages of their lives.

PURPOSE

This position is expected to actively engage in the facilitation of Remote Work Centers utilized by FUTUREPLANS (FP) participants as well as GRIT community partners. This position is hybrid and will require both virtual and in person, participant centered engagement.  

DUTIES

  • Maintain organization and structure within Remote Work Centers.
  • Assist in the coordination of on-site training, ensuring that all Remote Work Centers have necessary equipment and supplies for trainings.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with all community partners utilizing Remote Work Centers.
  • Promote trainings, services, and programing within the Remote Work Centers.
  • Develop personal growth opportunities for Work Experience participants placed at in Remote Work Centers.
  • Assist participants in building confidence and experience using internships, Work Experience programs, and job shadowing opportunities.
  • Maintain detailed records in the Future Plans dashboard and/or other client data monitoring platforms.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with participants to track outcomes.
  • Facilitate links with partnering agencies to use Future Plans data for participants when developing an educational plan and/or career plan which may include training, skill building, credentialing, and employment.
  • Collaborate with Future Plans partners on identification, placement and support of individuals participating in a Work Experience program.
  • Support the employment needs of the local business community while representing the Remote Workforce Development project.
  • Collaborate with Remote Work Centers, local libraries, and Ohio Means Jobs offices to develop and facilitate county workshops related to career exploration and coaching and participant communications.
  • Identify local success stories for the purpose of developing video testimonials and local press coverage.
  • Be knowledgeable and maintain relationships with local community colleges and workforce training programs for client referrals.
  • Maintain positive community relationships as a representative of FP.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the FP Workforce Director.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of people and formal organizations.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and consensus through effective collaboration.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to think in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Must have a reliable automobile, valid driver’s license and minimum state required liability auto insurance.
  • Complete Ohio’s Criminal Background Check

Job Type

  • Full-time
  • Schedule, Monday – Friday, including summer months.
  • Some weekend and/or evening availability.
  • Position requires travel to Remote Work Centers across multiple counties as deemed necessary by Workforce Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preference given to those with experience working with Apprenticeship Programs or Work Experience Programs, and/or professionally as a Career Coordinator.
  • Preference given to those with extensive experience and knowledge of working in the community with the local population. This experience may include community volunteer, school volunteer, civic leader, or other community involvement.
    • Must have experience working one on one with individuals.
  • Must be proficient in using technology such as Microsoft office or Google docs.

These qualifications are guidelines. Other combinations of education and experience which could provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered for potential to hire.

LOCATION

This position is hybrid and offers the opportunity to work from home and partner locations, including Remote Work Centers. Preference given to applicants who live in the following Ohio Counties: Adams, Brown, Pike, Scioto, Athens, and Hocking.
