Purpose of Position- GRIT Adult Career Mentor
The purpose of Grit Career Mentors is to serve the adult population utilizing the Future Plans career assessment to help the client grow past their presenting situation (this includes overseeing pilot projects, partner agency referrals, online referrals, etc.). The Grit Career Mentor will help the adult client grow through a process of utilizing FP assessment and local partner resources, to improve their overall career path and financial sufficiency (growth measured in yearly salary increase). This position will assist the Future Plans staff with an adult focus outreach in community efforts to help all adult populations. The expectation of this position is to oversee pilot projects in assigned counties, visit local systems which impact adults requiring additional support and participate in building a holistic approach to care for the client.
POSITION DUTIES
- Collaborate with local partners to implement FP career assessment to help the adult population grow everyone’s career path towards an in-demand job or higher financial rewards (self-sufficiency).
- Coordinate and complete career coaching with clients who complete the assessment to help create an individual career plan and create referrals as needed.
- Maintain data in the FP dashboard and/or other client data monitoring platforms to monitor career readiness status of all clients (as assigned).
- Coordinate the transition of follow up information of associated client’s information.
- Assist partnering agencies on the use of FP data for clients when developing an educational plan and/or career plan to help the client balance their overall wellbeing.
- Collaborate with FP Community Outreach Partners and Grit Project Managers on all projects.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to the FP Work Experience Program Adults when assigned.
- Collaborate with the GRIT leadership team on the need to utilize local libraries, and Ohio Means Jobs office to develop and facilitate county workshops related to career exploration and coaching, coordinate local marketing efforts, scheduling, and participant communications.
- Serve as program representative on assigned community committees such as drug coalition, recovery, and court initiatives. This can be in collaboration with Community Outreach Partners.
- Identify local success stories for the purpose of developing video testimonials and local press coverage.
- Be knowledgeable and maintain relationships with local community colleges and workforce training programs such as apprenticeships for client referrals.
- Maintain positive community relationships as a representative of FP.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by GRIT leadership staff.
REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of people and formal organizations.
- Ability to build effective relationships and consensus through effective collaboration.
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to think in an interdisciplinary team.
- Must have a reliable automobile, valid driver’s license and minimum state required liability auto insurance.
- Complete Ohio’s Criminal Background Check
Job Type
- Full-time
- Schedule, Monday – Friday, including summer months.
- Some weekend and/or evening availability
- Position requires travel as needed and as approved by GRIT leadership staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preference given to those with experience working professionally as a Case Manager, Career Coordinator, Chemical Dependency Counselor and/or Peer Recovery Supporter.
- Preference given to those with extensive experience and knowledge of working in the community with the local population. This experience could be as a community volunteer, school volunteer, civic leader, or other community involvement.
- Must have experience working one on one with individuals.
- Must be willing to complete required training for position within the first 90days of hire.
- Must be proficient in using technology such as Microsoft office or Google docs.
These qualifications are guidelines. Other combinations of education and experience which could provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered for potential to hire.
LOCATION
This position is a field position and offers the opportunity to work from home as well as from partner locations. This position will focus on counties around East Central Appalachia but may require travel to Northern Appalachia (Noble, Guernsey, Belmont, Muskingum, and Washington)
